Ad 2 San Diego offers Pro-bono Marketing Services for Non-Profits


AD 2 SAN DIEGO IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2011-2012 PUBLIC SERVICE CAMPAIGN

San Diego, CA (June 2011) – Ad 2 San Diego (Ad2SD), the young professionals division of the American Advertising Federation, is looking for the next nonprofit organization that is ready to receive an exciting marketing campaign at no cost to the organization. Through the yearly Public Service campaign, the Ad 2 San Diego club will select a local nonprofit organization to work with and help create a full-service integrated marketing campaign. Depending on the selected organization’s needs, this campaign can include anything from complete re-branding, public and media relations strategy, website production, SEO optimization, online strategy design, media placement, and TV production.

The perfect candidate for this exciting campaign is any agency, organization, or group with a passion for marketing and tax-exemption status under the Federal Income Tax section 501(c)(3) or similar.

Every year, Ad 2 clubs nationwide embody the American Advertising Federation’s long- established and firm commitment to public service advertising. Club members active in the public service campaign gain respect and admiration for their contributions to public welfare, as well as the reward of knowing that their skills have been used for genuine good.

Any interested nonprofit organization should contact AD2 San Diego’s Public Service Committee at publicservice@ad2sd.com. The application process is easy and free. The deadline for submitting a completed application is June 30, 2011.

The Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge: ROC Race 5K

The Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge also known as the ROC Race was inspired by WipeOut, the American reality show competition featuring ridiculous obstacle challenges and American Gladiators. The 5K course around the historic Del Mar Fairgrounds made its debut last month with over 6,000 participants! According to CNN, Millennium Events the producers of the event, are making plans to host the event across the country so if you’re not in San Diego, the ROC Race may be headed to your city!

Members of Ad 2 San Diego and I formed a team to take on the creative collision of the military style training course and the crazy game show inspired obstacles. Our costumes were ‘young professionals’ so we got together and wore our collared button up shirts. After looking at the photos and videos, you can tell that other teams were a lot more creative – that’s okay, that just means next year Ad 2 San Diego is going to bring our creativity up a notch.

Overall, I think our team did a great job and I can’t wait to do the ROC Race again next year! By the way, the Del Mar Mud Run is in October – that’s only a few more months away! Who’s in?

Ad 2 San Diego presents Cause Marketing Night

ad2sandiegoIf you’re a marketing professional under the age of 32 and looking for a professional organization where you can network with other members of the advertising, marketing, and communications field – you should check out your local Ad 2 chapter. And if you’re in San Diego, you should definitely check out Ad 2 San Diego (Ad2SD). Why you ask? Because Ad 2 is a great organization that helps create future advertising and marketing industry leaders through education, leadership development and networking programs.

Just recently, Ad2SD hosted the “Start Up or Shut Up” event where attendees got to get up close and personal with a panel of San Diego’s finest agency execs to learn what it takes to bring a start up to a reality.

The panel included:

Over 50 attendees attended the event (myself included) and were able to gain an intimate perspective on the pros and cons of running a new business such as how to hire the right team, when to accept investment capital, how to negotiate rates, and more. Overall, it was a great night with a huge turnout and I’m definitely excited for this month’s event.

On August 27, 2009 at 6PM, Ad2SD will be hosting their annual “Cause Marketing Night” where three non-profit organizations will get a chance to compete for the coveted Ad 2 Public Service Campaign.

According to Ad2SD, “Each year local chapters select a client, research the client’s needs and author a complete marketing plan. Then, based upon that information, AD 2 members create television, radio, print outdoor and interactive advertising elements. Some campaigns also include logo design, production of collateral materials and public relations initiatives.”

Each non-profit will be given 10 minutes to present to a panel of judges on why they deserve the campaign and after the presentations, the guest speaker (TBA) will share a presentation on Cause Marketing. Check out the TV spot that was created last year for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County on the right panel. Awesome work don’t you think?
