Social Media Spring Cleaning Checklist

Social Media Spring Cleaning Checklist

Social Media Checklist

Spring is just around the corner, I challenge you to go beyond removing clutter from your home and take a stab at cleaning up your company’s presence online.

To give you a head start, I’ve created a social media spring cleaning checklist that applies to most social networks. If there’s anything else you’d like to add to the list or if you have trouble finding where to make changes, add your suggestion/feedback in the comments section below.

Thanks Krystal! I’m waiting for my Pinterest Article Rich Pins to get approved so the meta data in my blog posts show up in pins. Let me know if they appeared when you pinned it to your board.

Thanks for this! I HATE updating my passwords…but you’re right;) I should. And I never considered brandjacking! Yikes! Have you found that Twitter has changes in the sense of people not just following back others for the sake of them following you? It seems that’s how many people got to tens of thousands of followers. I am not big on Twitter and prefer FB, but would like to get to know it more. I just feel daunted by getting up to the thousands most peeps have. I don’t want to look at my phone that much for updates! But it does make sense to unfollow those who aren’t following unless I am finding the relationship valuable, so that’s my other take-home from your post. Thanks!

      Hi Ana,

Maintaining passwords can definitely be a pain but I’ll let you in on a secret…

I use LastPass. It’s a password manager that saves and fills in form fields for you so you can access your sites much faster. Passwords are supposed to be super secure with a mix between numbers, upper/lowercase letters and even special characters. With LastPass, all you need to remember is your master password and that’s it!

It’s been amazing. One of the cool features is that if you have a contractor, web designer or intern working on any of your sites, you can share the login data without exposing the password.

P.S. You can use http://twitsweeper.com/ to find spammy Twitter followers and remove them.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Great tips Steph… so many people set these things up on their social media sites and then forget all about them. As businesses evolve and rebrand, etc, these items are often overlooked. Thanks for the reminders!

Oh, how I needed this! Particularly for optimizing my existing content. I’ve had some bad habits in the past with just wanting to get content “out there” without tagging, etc. Thank you!
